Nicknamed the “Pearl of Africa,” Uganda boasts stunning greenery, deep lakes, soaring mountains and perhaps the greatest natural treasure of all - half of the world's last remaining mountain gorilla population. In Southwestern Uganda at the edge of the western Great Rift Valley, hugging the border of the Democratic Republic of Congo lies Bwindi Forest. Theatrical mountain formations are swathed in 331 square kilometers of the thick tropical forest that earned the name ‘Bwindi Impenetrable’. Every visitor to this secluded habitat describes the meeting as a moving, near-spiritual experience never to be forgotten! Travel deep into the heart of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and see these incredible, endangered creatures from closer than you ever thought possible.
After your breakfast, you will be picked up in Kampala / Entebbe to begin your journey to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest national park. A brief stop at Uganda Equator gives us a chance to look through the many craft markets for a few souvenirs/gifts, and perhaps a cup of coffee as well as a picturesque moment at the equator. This is followed by another stop for Lunch in Mbarara. We traverse the rolling hills of the southwestern landscape on our way to Bwindi Forest National Park, where we check into our booked Lodge in time for dinner. Approx transit time: 8½ hrs. Meal plan: [L, D]
After a briefing, we venture into Bwindi Forest on foot and enter a world suspended outside of time. The undergrowth thrives with diverse plants, mammals, and birds. It may be minutes or hours before we come upon a gorilla family, but when we finally do, the encounter sweeps us into a timeless moment. We watch the juveniles play as the impressive adults groom and keep a sly but watchful eye on their human visitors. At this moment, a feeling of kinship rises to close the gap that grew between us and our primate relatives over millennia. We descend, elated and arrested in a timeless moment to be told and retold for years to come. We return to the lodge to catch our breath before our next hard adventure with the Batwa people, also known as the pygmies that originated from the Ituri forest of Congo. Meal plan: [B, L, D].
We exit Bwindi Impenetrable Forest to begin our journey to Entebbe for our flight back home. We stop for lunch en-route at Igongo Cultural Center. As we cross the equator, back into the northern hemisphere, we feel the distance of the Impenetrable forest, but our memories linger close by, accompanying us on our journey home. Approx transit time: 8½ hrs. Meal plan: [B].

SINGLE ROOM SUPPLEMENTS: Generally, group tours are priced based on a standard room charge that’s divided between two people sharing a twin or double room. If a solo traveller chooses to have their own room, they are not sharing the cost with a second traveller. The single supplement is therefore an additional charge to make up the full cost of the room. Most hotels in East and Southern Africa will charge you an extra fee for staying in a room alone! Sic! This is why, against our wish, we charge you the 'Single Room Supplement' for travelling / staying solo on your trip.
HOLIDAY / EASTER / CHRISTMAS: In addition, most hotels in East and Southern Africa charge Easter and Christmas Supplement from if your booking falls on between December 24th and Jaunuary 2nd of every year. Most Safari Lodges charge the supplement for the following dates 24, 25, 26 and 31 December and 01 January every year. The best way to avoid the supplements is to avoid travelling on dates within the mentioned dates (if possible) not only to avoid the high rates but also to avoid the huge crowds of people withnessed in the festive season travel.
